The rear apartment, hallway, and porch were the focus of our project. We completely remodeled the interior of the apartment including textured walls (knockdown) with new doors, some new windows, all new trim, complete bathroom remodel, Ted Bateman of Andrews, NC gets the credit for the new kitchen cabinets and countertops. We installed new lighting throughout, new paint throughout. We also installed new appliances, plumbing and plumbing fixtures. Not much if anything went untouched.
The hallway recieved the same wall treatment and was reconfiquired for installation of a shared laundry room where we installed two stack washer/dryer units. The old pine floors were brought back to life by sanding and new finish applied.
The porch was terrible. Rotten wood was everywhere. Initial construction was quite shabby to start with. We demolished it down to the floor joist and started from there making repairs to joist where needed. We built new walls and roof and screened in window openings to allow breeze to flow through. By reconfiquring the hallway as we did we were then able to allow future tenants from both front and rear apartments access to porch making this the main entry for both apartments. New stairs at rear of porch allow access to rear parking area. Ceiling fans and new lighting were also installed as was fresh paint and stain to all wood and exterior of building.
